I did enjoy it, but it took me awhile to get into the book

It did take me awhile to read it that’s why it is so tattered

I am certainly not a New York Times best selling author or the author of any book, yet.

However, I am an avid reader and a multi-Emmy award winning journalist. Broadcasting and writing are my passions. I wanted to preface that because I promised myself and my readers I would be honest in my reviews.

I don’t know about you, but I love reading, especially on plane rides. I was headed back to Tampa from Chicago and was browsing the book store at O’Hare International airport. I immediately gravitated towards the best selling rack and was drawn in by the plot of The Perfect Mother written by Aimee Molloy. The novel is a psychological thriller surrounding a group of mom’s who belong to a new mother’s group in Brooklyn. One night of fun takes a terrifying twist when one of their newborns goes missing.

The novel takes us through the 13 day ordeal to find the baby. During that period, like any thriller, secrets surrounding the characters are exposed. The Perfect Mother also takes another twist.

The author brings in an outspoken talk show host named Patricia Faith, who weighs in on the case and who does so unfairly without the facts. I am very sensitive about that as a journalist but I am a realist too. The drama can sell novels.

That being said, It took me a long time to get engaged in the book.

In fact, I was visiting my family in Chicago in June, and my little niece said: “How are you still reading that book?” I had bought it back in April during the last trip.

My little niece Ariya is just beginning to really enjoy books

I do not want to give anything away, but the end was the most disappointing because I felt it came out of nowhere. I am hesitant to say more because again I do not want to give anything away.

The Perfect Mother did get good reviews and I commend the author. The Perfect Mother is her debut novel.

The story is soon to be a major motion picture. They typically say the book is better than the movie, in this case, I am looking forward to seeing it on the big screen. I think it will translate better.
