BUILDING YOUR EMPIRE: How A Free Training Opportunity For Entrepreneurs And Nonprofits Is Changing Lives

Building your business empire! Right now, there’s an amazing opportunity for business and nonprofit leaders, thanks to the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship in the Florida State University College of Business.

The Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship is offering free business training to Tampa Bay entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders through Small Business Executive Program (SBEP) and Nonprofit Executive Program (NPEP). The deadline for applications is Sunday, January 31, 2021, and the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship is encouraging all local leaders to apply!

The programs are designed for CEOs, entrepreneurs, business owners, presidents, and executive directors of small businesses and nonprofit organizations. Graduates emerge with the skills and training to elevate their businesses, turning challenges into strategic advantages.

Real people are talking about these amazing programs and how they have transformed their businesses.

Lennise Germany left the security of her corporate job seven years ago, but now she’s truly living her dream, cooking up a storm with her business, LivyO’s Catering.

Germany said, “I would never trade the fact that I took the leap of faith to jump into entrepreneurship, never!”

And, now her business is at a different playing field. LivyO’s is one of the official caterers for the Super Bowl in Tampa, Florida, in 2021.

The gamechanger was the Small Business Executive Program (SBEP).

“It elevated my mind in a way that forced my actions,” said Germany.

Shane Smith is the Jim Moran Institute for Global Entrepreneurship’s director of Central Florida Operations.

He explained Jim Moran was a king in the auto industry and a philanthropist.

“Mr. Moran was born an entrepreneur, really rough beginnings up in Chicago, but even as a young boy, he was entrepreneurial in his ways,” said Smith.

And Moran wanted to share his success. The Jim Moran Foundation was founded in 2001, with a mission of supporting “innovative programs and opportunities that meet the ever-changing needs of the community,” such as the SBEP and NPEP. The legacy of the Jim Moran Foundation is to give back by elevating business owners and nonprofits.

“The foundation had gifted us a large sum of money if you will. That allows us to provide this for entrepreneurs and nonprofit leaders at no cost to them,” said Smith.

The SBEP consists of eight sessions, each focusing on a particular aspect of growing a small business, and spans about four months. Participants also have access to speakers and business experts.

“The aim of the program is in a way is a mini-MBA, you've done your undergraduate to learn how to start your business. Now you're going back to school to grow your business,” said Smith.

The NPEP program consists of four sessions, each focusing on how to navigate a nonprofit organization through the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead.

The selection committee will choose 25 business owners and 25 nonprofit leaders through an application process. To be will be selected, your business must be in operation for three to five years and have five or more employees, including volunteers.

Smith firmly believes the time commitment is well worth it. “As the cliché goes, they're too busy working in their business when they really should be working on their business, for them to be able to grow any further,” he said.

Germany couldn’t agree more. The CEO of LivyO’s believes in the program so much, she had her husband Omar take the courses as well!  Omar Germany is now the CFO of their catering business.

“I would definitely encourage anybody to take the program. We definitely learned from it and it actually did grow our business. So, we're advocates for it,” said Omar Germany.

“You can't afford to not do it is what I say,” said Lennise Germany.

The deadline for applications is fast approaching on Sunday, January 24, 2021.

Sarina Fazan, CEO and Founder of Sarina Fazan Media, and Tanya Cielo, Lead Strategist for Sky Strategic Marketing, are not only plan on taking the courses, but they will be sharing their journey.
