CURRENT: A Grandson Fulfills A Family’s Legacy With An Amazing Addition to Tampa

It’s a one of those remarkable stories that reminds us the legacy of family.

A Tampa developer is following his grandfather’s dream and continuing to build on it.

I met with Stan Lifsey at his brand new beautiful hotel  Current. The hotel is part of the Autograph Collection by Marriott and sits on Rocky Point Drive. CURRENT

We settled in for a conversation at the hotel’s rooftop bar. Stan said he wanted to be able to talk about the hotels stunning view which includes the city’s skyline and the gorgeous water surrounding the area. He told me his beloved late grandfather, Julian always believed the property should be utilized to its full capacity. He firmly  believes the vision has come to fruition. Stan said  Current is fulfilling a Bay area need for not only growing tourism but a destination stop for locals. It is one of the reasons he wanted to meet at the rooftop, he pointed out how the  hotel can be easily accessed from many locations.

But, with any venture there is risk. Stan talked openly the ones he took and why he was determined to build this hotel. He said he no doubt it will thrive and added he can see his grandfather smiling and taking in the beautiful 10 story property.  In fact, Lifsey named the hotel’s main restaurant after his beloved grandfather.

Lifsey said his wife, Jill has also has played a major role in bringing Current to life. Jill Lifsey  She is a professional interior designer and you can see her touch throughout the entire property.

Those that follow me know I am a huge proponent of local businesses and the Tampa Bay community. One of the aspects I appreciated was all the artwork from local artists.

Gayle’s husband Mark is Jill’s younger brother. The families are very close and I have been blessed to see some of their amazing accomplishments, including this latest one seen in Current. 

I have been honored to take part in many family gatherings. The bottom left is Easter a couple years ago. Gayle and Mark also graciously celebrated my birthday
