OneBood Mission Heroes Are Making it their Duty to Assist those who are Donating Blood

OneBlood team members at Tampa Bay’s donation center are on the front lines saving the lives of those with their continuous efforts.

“My favorite part of this job is saving lives,” said Elayne Hill a team member at One Blood.

There is no other job Elayne Hill can imagine; she wants to be right here at OneBlood whether it is on a Big Red Bus or here at a donation center.

“I started working here 10 years ago because I wanted to start working in the medical profession and make a difference, ” said Hill.

Cassandra Sylvestrie just started at OneBlood a year ago, and just like Elayne, it is a place she plans on staying, standing side by side with donors saving lives.

“I like to help my community by assisting people with giving blood,” said Sylvestre.

The employees who come in every day, on the front lines during these unprecedented times are why they are our mission heroes.

“I feel like we are mostly put to the test how well we can work during the pandemic and how much of a difference we can make,” said Sylvestre.

“Thank you so much for calling me a mission hero, but I am just doing my job,” said Hill.

These mission heroes have also been featured in the amazing stories done here at OneBlood.

Hill was featured in a story where she stopped to help a man in a car accident on the way to a blood drive.

“Always trying to help and save lives,” said Hill.

Sylvestre assisted popular Tampa Radio personality Orlando Davis who was also featured on an OneBlood story giving convalescent plasma after recovering from the coronavirus.

“It makes us feel good,” says Sylvestre.

For Hill and Sylvestre and all their co-workers, it is not just a job, it is their mission.

“Every day we still need blood the hospitals are open 24-7 there’s no substitute for blood,” says Hill.
