Host Sarina Fazan speaks with Chief Mary O’Connor about her personal history, the effect that the Covid-19 pandemic has had on Tampa’s crime rates, her work in the community, her mission to recruit more female police officers, and the ways that she intends to honor police officers who have died in the field.
Chief Mary O’ Connor is the chief of the Tampa Police Department. Previously, she worked for the Tampa Police Department for twenty-two years, and retired from the department in 2016 as the assistant police chief. As the new chief of police, she intends to be active in the community, decrease crime rates, and uplift the physical and mental wellness of her officers.
