Election Day Controversy: Actor Antonio Sabáto, Jr. Says He Lost His Career Over Politics Beliefs

Former General Hospital star and model, Antonio Sabáto, Jr. says he was blacklisted from Hollywood after publicly sharing his political beliefs and support of the Republican Party. With voter turnout for the 2020 Presidential election reaching record turnouts, his story sheds light on politics in Hollywood.

The team at Sarina Fazan Media is not endorsing either candidate.

Sarina Fazan was the emcee for a recent event featuring financial advisor Dave Duquette and his team of experts. As part of the event, Antonio Sabáto, Jr. shared his experience and why he feels it is important to make a financial plan.

“Several years ago, I decided to really express my beliefs in my country because I really love this place,” Sabáto says.

He explains, “I fight for our country because I love this place. I probably love it more now because I came from another place. I was born in Rome, Italy, came here in 1985.”

His grandmother was a World Word II survivor, and his parents were very hardworking individuals. His upbringing instilled an entrepreneurial spirit and financial mindset that Sabáto carried throughout his career.

“That mentality that I have about going after jobs and different professions is because I’m protected in the bank. I’m protected where I can live my life and take certain chances and choices that might affect me,” Sabáto says.

He continues, “But, if I’m not protected there, then you feel like you’re going to be by yourself, and you don’t want to get to a place where everything is gone, you want to live a comfortable life.”

Financial planners like Dave Duquette and his team work to put plans in place to protect their clients’ futures.

“These guys are your bodyguards; that’s what they're doing. They’re watching your back as you get older. By the time you’re ready to settle down and you settle down right now, you have this fortress around your life that I’ve had the pleasure of having in my life,” Sabáto says.

He adds, “I was working as an actor for 35 years and then I expressed my political views, and I was blacklisted in a matter of 24 hours.”

Sabáto says he was the first actor on record to speak openly about his support for then-candidate President Donald Trump during the 2016 election - and his controversial comments had financial implications.

“I have three wonderful children. I got to pay a mortgage. I have a certain lifestyle I’ve had for 35 years and all those people shut those doors. They told me to my face. They offered me jobs, and they took them away from me,” Sabáto says.

He goes on to explain the impact on his his life, his finances, and his family.

“It's not just happening to me, it's happening to my fiancé, it's happening to my three children, and now I have to move to another state. I have to relocate, but I was able to relocate, I was able to make those choices one again because I had this base, this protection,” Sabáto says.

He continues, “I was fortunate to be able to sustain myself and come back to where I am.”

Now Sabáto is the director of a six million dollar film called Trailblazers, which is projected to shoot next spring and features many well-known actors. He stresses that this is only possible because he created a backup plan and encourages people to do the same with Dave Duquette and his team of experts.

“You can see the smile on their faces, they sleep better at night because they’re protected,” Sabáto says.
