My name is Bailey Sweeney, I am one of Sarina’s intern’s! I just wrote an article about The Ronald McDonald House of Tampa Bay, and am excited for the upcoming projects I will be working on! Here is my latest one about World Give Day!

World Give Day right here in Tampa Bay

May 4 2021 was World Give Day, and The Mil Tampa Bay celebrated by hosting a give back day raising money for The American Cancer Society.

Sarina talked with Chris Duchesne from Pilot Bank who said that, “ Pilot Bank, The American Cancer Society and The Mill have all teamed up for this giveback, where fifteen percent of the proceeds go to The American Cancer Society and help with research to save lives.”

Chris continues by saying “Pilot Bank has always been a huge sponsor of The American Cancer Society. Rita Lowman, the President of Pilot Bak has always kept The American Cancer Society close to her heart, and it  has always been a strong suit of hers.”

Sarina talks  with her business partner and founder of Sky Strategic Marketing Tanya Cielo, who was already at a table at the giveback.

Tayna tells Sarina that to her World Give Day is, “Asking people from around the world to do something generous, whether it may be giving to your favorite nonprofit, volunteering or just by helping others out.”

She continues by saying “This giveback is a perfect example while we rally to help raise money for such a great cause.”

Tayna then tells Sarina about one of the ways she has been giving back to the community, through her Campaign she started called Start Spreading Kindness.

“Since the pandemic started a year ago, nonprofit organizations have had less people available to help out and volunteer. So I wanted to shine some sunshine on these organizations to get them the exposure they need.”

Tayna continues saying “There are acts of kindness all around.”

Sarina talks to Mary Boyd who is also withPilot Bank and whose husband is a cancer survivor. Mary tells Sarina her and her family are very involved with Relay For Life, a great event supporting research.

Boyd says, “Cancer has touched everyone's lives, whether it be a family member, friend or someone you know. It's an awful disease, so please come out and support us and Relay For Life.”

Sarina runs into the general manager of The Mil Phil Kuzma, who talks about how The Mil got involved with this giveback.

Cuzmo says, “Our owners are active in other giveback programs, so when Chris came to me with The American Cancer Society, they jumped right on it.”

Cuzmo continues by telling Sarina their food is “Rustic American with Southern and French influences.”

World Give Day is a perfect day to give back to the community.
