Tampa Crossroads is Changing Lives by Building a Better Community

Tampa Crossroads has been committed to providing a positive community for families in Hillsborough, Pinellas, and Pasco Counties since 1977. And today, Sarina Fazan is joined by Gwendolyn Green, the CEO of Tampa Crossroads, to share the powerful mission of this incredible nonprofit organization.

“We’ve really evolved since 1977 to try to encompass what people need in our community and figure out how we can help them in the best possible way,” says Gwendolyn. “We are just growing and we’re so excited to see what we continue to do in the future.”

The Tampa Crossroads facility has four donation closets filled with items that are given to the organization by the community.

“We are really thankful and beyond lucky that our community supports us in helping the people that we work with that are homeless,” says Gwendolyn.

That support includes a big donation of socks from the company Bombas, which they give to people who need their services.

“The thing that we are really excited about that we need the most are household goods. We are able to help people get into permanent housing but they get there and they don’t have the things that they need,” she says.

These items include cleaning supplies, towels, home furnishings, eating utensils, and MREs (Meals Ready-to-Eat). Many times, these are the necessities that we take for granted.

“You know what’s so amazing and great is that you help so many people. You help the veterans, people with disabilities, and people generally in need that just need another chance,” says Sarina.

With financial funding, they are continuously able to help people through their incredible services.

“We have lots of funding from all different sources to help people with all sorts of needs,” says Gwendolyn.

She continues, “We have specialized programs for veterans but also for residents of Hillsborough County that we can put them into housing and we can pay their rent for up to a year. But in that time, we’re trying to help them get jobs, get benefits so they can get on their feet as quickly as possible.”

They also provide a women’s residential program and an outpatient program for individuals who struggle with mental health issues and addiction.

“Most of the programs are fully funded by funds from the county and different sources, so we can really help people with everything that they need,” says Gwendolyn.

They even extend their outreach to people with disabilities by assisting them with receiving jobs.

“Our goal really is finding out what do people need in our community and how can we serve them.”

Sarina is incredibly honored to be able to share their wonderful message and their continued efforts of building a better community!
