Sarina Fazan was able to go fishing off the coast of Longboat Key, and the fish were really biting.

In the clear blue waters off Florida’s coast, Sarina and some good friends enjoyed the fun sport of fishing. King mackerel are a popular game fish because they often swim relatively close to the surface and put up an exciting fight! There are several common ways to catch them, including using rod-and-reel with lines and hooks.

King mackerel are usually about 30 to 45 inches long, though some can grow as large as 66 inches, making them an excellent sport fish. Because they often travel in large schools, anglers can sometimes catch several in a short time.
