Dear friends,

“Tis the Season” for movies! I personally love escaping in a good film. So, does my talented social media editor, Krysta Escobar. We are both sharing as many reviews as possible to help you and your family and friends decide which films you might want to see. Krysta recently went to see Jumanji: The Next Level the highly anticipated fourth installment, overall, in the Jumanji franchise.

It follows the adventures of four friends entering the fantastical world of Jumanji, a video game.

Here is her review:

Jumanji is a movie that I have always loved simply because of the feel of adventure behind it. I personally crave adventure all the time and this film series makes me feel like I am in the middle of the action right along with the characters

I was was very excited for the release of Jumanji: The Next Level  because of how much I loved Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle that came out in 2017.

This movie reunites the four main characters. But, life has changed in three years especially for Spencer, played by Alex Wolff. He’s having a hard time adjusting to college life and questioning his relationship. He just wants to get that strength and confidence back that he had in the game  as Dr. Smolder Bravestone, played by Dwayne Johnson.  So, he decides to go back into the fantasy land.

The movie follows  Spencer and the other characters who follow him into Jumanji, determined to bring him back. The creative plot is one of the things I really like about this series, how the characters, change into players of the game.

The group in this movie face many troubles along the way simply because this time everything is different.

I thought Dwayne Johnson, Dr. Bravestone, did a good job of keeping Spencer’s personality alive. He definitely put a lot of power and emotion into his character which was visible to the audience. Kevin Hart was Franklin Finbar but was Fridge too. His character was extremely funny and he did a great job. Karen Gillan was fantastic as well!

The message is based on friendship and teamwork. It was just so sweet that the friends risked everything just to save one person even knowing the odds. That just defines true friendship there and that is a great lesson viewers take away from the movie.

Jumanji: The Next Level is a movie meant for adventure seekers and those who love to be on the edge of their seats.  That being said, even though I was very excited about this movie, It was not as captivating as  Welcome to the Jungle.

I don’t think Jumanji: The Next Level is for everyone though. If you love these types of movies see it in theaters, but otherwise, I would just wait for it to come out digitally.
