MISSION HEROES: OneBlood Team Members determined to get through Coronavirus Crisis

Alexis Norton and her OneBlood team members like Omar Hopkins dedicated and determined to get through the coronavirus pandemic, for one purpose. Helping to save lives.

“I love my job,” said Norton. “We want to make sure we have a blood supply ready so if anything happens to you or your loved ones we could provide you with the blood that you need,” said Hopkins.

Whether it’s reporting to work on the Big Red Bus or a OneBlood donation center. They are OneBlood mission heroes, knowing the need for blood is constant even during this pandemic.

“There is not another place I would rather be. I know when I’m getting up in the morning and going to do this I know this is what I’m supposed to be doing l,” said OneBlood donor services specialist Cayley Mace.

Drive cancellations and public places shutting down it’s still not stopping OneBlood team members from coming to work: no matter the circumstances.

Norton canceled her own birthday plans!

“They called me to come in. So I don’t mind,” Norton smiled at a donor.

Alexis says her birthday present, is so many donors answering the call to give blood, and especially with blood drives cancelled, seeking out donation locations on their own.

“You are busier than usual do you think because all of this is on the news?” donor Martha Bear asked Norton.

“Yes ma’am . Which is a good thing we need the blood. Yes, it’s awesome,” Norton replied.

And, the team members dedication, is not lost on donors, like Bear.

“It shows they are compassionate, they are caring, they are professionals, they are here for us,” said Bear.

“It’s a life-saving job you come here and you go home knowing that you’re helping somebody out,” said Hopkins
