Where Love Grows: Helping Kids by just Eating Pie

I believe so strongly in giving back to the community. Thanks to my job as a broadcast journalist, I have been able to volunteer and serve as an emcee on countless occasions.

However, I wanted to do more and kept searching for the right fit. The search ended when I was doing a news story on Where Love Grows, a non profit that helps feed hungry kids.

The moment I met the founder, Vicki Anzalone, I was immediately taken in not only by her warm and caring personality but her fierce dedication to help children she had never met.

I remember going home, looking at my own daughter Sammie and also remembering my trip to India when I was only 10. I could not get the images of hungry kids out of my mind.

I reached out to Vicki a short time later and now I sit on the board of Where Love Grows. We are excited to announce our next fundraising event. The board hopes to raise money in a pie eating contest. College students from various universities in the Bay Area will compete to eat the most pies in a limited amount of time.
