EP 62: LOVE IN AMERICA: How To Have A Successful Partnership (In Love, Life, and Business!)

Partners in love, life, and business, Kristin and Kevin Votta are “On The Record With Sarina Fazan” to share their story, as part of the podcast’s popular “Love In America” series! Married for almost a decade, Kristin and Kevin work together in all aspects of life, from entrepreneurship to parenthood! Kristin, a well-known and respected management consultant, owns The Votta Group, and she says that her business would not be where it is without Kevin. In fact, she jokes that she would not be a "Votta" and there would be no "Group"! With his support, Kristin also has written her first book, which will be released in 2021!

After meeting at a self-improvement seminar, Kristin and Kevin established a professional relationship and friendship before their romance began. Kevin was an entrepreneur and personal trainer, while Kristin had been coaching leadership programs and facilitating seminars.

Kevin explains, “We started working together first. So what Kristin was doing and what I was doing at the time complemented each other. Where Kristin excels are not the areas that I excel in. So, right away, there was a great partnership there when it came to the business, and I was very clear that I didn’t want to mix business and pleasure.”

Kristin adds, “To be fair, I told him I would love to get married and start a family with someone I was in business with. We’d go on vacations at the same time and create a life together. And, at some point, he flipped over to my side!”

Before they met, Kevin had been through divorce and had been doing a lot of work on his own self-development. He says, “The more I got to know her and the more I grew…I think it wasn’t any change over there. It was me maturing and realizing what I wanted out of life, that had me realize that this amazing person is here, is in my life. I don’t need to continue to look. She’s right here.”

Soon after they started their romantic relationship, Kristin and Kevin moved in together. But, while Kevin told his family early on that he wanted to marry Kristin, they waited another year and a half before walking down the aisle. On October 1st, 2021, they will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary, and they now have two beautiful children.

Kristin and Kevin are still going strong as partners at home and in the workplace.

Kristin founded Votta Coaching & Consulting in 2018, and then expanded and rebranded the business in 2019 to become The Votta Group, with Kevin as a consultant. Headquartered in Tampa, The Votta Group is a management consulting and leadership development firm, with an international reach.

Also in 2018, Kristin created the Votta Exercise - Adjust Your View™, which has been used by nonprofits, entrepreneurs, and leaders from as large as Fortune 10 companies to achieve new results.

Likewise, Kevin is an innovator. In addition to his work with The Votta Group, he is the owner and operator of Fitness-Tek, which offers Muscle Activation Techniques®, one-on-one personal training, keto coaching, and education programs.  When not making a difference with his clients, Kevin is supporting his family, particularly being (self-proclaimed) Kristin's biggest fan. She supported the growth of Fitness-Tek, and now he is proud to be the great man behind the great woman.

And now Kristin’s working on the launch of her new book, another labor of love. She explains, “When the book comes out, my hope is that it’s able to reach more people and that more people are able to see that you really can create results that weren’t predictable.” Stay tuned for more details!

Kristin says of her husband, “Kevin has me feel like I’m an amazing person, which I think is what everybody wants in a relationship…No matter how uncomfortable I get taking that next step up, he’s right there, nudging me lovingly. And that’s a gift I’m incredibly thankful for.”
