EP 95: A Father’s Influence: Discussing the “Dad Effect”
“A Father’s Influence” is about the importance of family, being a good role model, and setting up your children for success. In this special episode of “On the Record With Sarina Fazan,” Tom Wallace, the Managing Partner of Florida Funders, and Judge Michelle Sisco, Thirteenth Judicial Court of Hillsborough County, discuss the power of the “Dad Effect” on the next generation and the importance of the father/daughter bond.
Florida Funders is a hybrid of a venture capital fund and angel investor network that discovers, funds, and builds early-stage tech companies. Tom’s career as an executive has spanned decades and garnered community awards, however he always makes his daughter Kirby a priority. Sarina talks to Tom Wallace about the special bond he shares with 23-year-old, Kirby. Tom is proud not only of his professional achievements but about the young woman he raised to make a positive impact on the world.
For Judge Sisco, it was her father’s influence that led her to a career in law. She began her legal career as an assistant state attorney in Hillsborough County. She left that position in 1998 to join the private law firm of Trombley & Hanes, where she handled white-collar criminal defense and civil law. In August 2002, she was appointed to the Hillsborough County Court by Gov. Bush, and she was elevated to the circuit court in 2005. Since then, Judge Sisco has been reelected without opposition.
