SPREADING KINDNESS AND FEEDING THE COMMUNITY

We’re talking about spreading kindness during the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-2019) crisis, and one local business is doing as much as they can to help others.

From 12 PM to 2 PM on Friday, March 27, Catering By The Family (CBTF) is giving away 100 free pans of pasta to families in the community. The food will be distributed on a first-come, first serve basis at CBTF’s warehouse facility, located at 2322 W. Cypress St., Tampa, FL 33609.

CBTF Owner Steven Gonzalez Sr. says, “There’s so much negativity going on, and I wanted to do something positive. The community, for over 40 years, has blessed me, and I wanted to give back. Food is what I do, it’s all I know. And I want to give it to people who can’t afford it.”

This is just one of the ways that CBTF has been working to help feed Tampa Bay. Earlier this week, I joined Steve as he made free food deliveries to the first responders at the Tampa Police Department, the Emergency Operation Center in Ybor City, and the Tampa Fire Rescue Department. CBTF hopes that these meals take away at least one worry for first responders, so they can focus their attention on public health and safety.

CBTF also hosted a blood drive on March 26, after hearing there is a critical need for blood.

In addition to charitable efforts, CBTF has created a special menu of family favorite meals, including lunch and dinner options, available for pick up or delivery. Many of the meals are freezer-friendly, too.
